There are six table- top exercises in the workshop. How the six table- top exercises flow is elaborated in a different section. This section proceeds as follows: Table-top Exercise 1: Governance Disaster Impact (not only the existence of danger) is:
The exercises provide a real situation happened in one of the occurring disasters and invite the participants to respond it by carrying out governance well. We all know that governance in disaster- struck areas suffers from the disaster impact. Table-top Exercise 2: Medical Emergency An emergency situation which strikes a population in a disaster and directly suffered by people is medical emergency. How are the local healthcare and medical components, which also suffer from the disaster impact, mobilized to encounter the acute situation of medical emergency. Table-top Exercise 3: Medical Logistics The success of medical emergency is very much depended upon the management of medical logistics. Table-top Exercise 4: Aftermath Surveillance In the past, it was simple to acknowledge that in a disastrous condition and in an evacuation condition, an outbreak occurred. At present, when an outbreak occurs, it should be minimized. Surveillance detects the change in disease trend; therefore, we are able to monitor and analyzes concurrently. Without surveillance, a disease having an outbreak potential will occur too enormous to be handled if it occurs in a disastrous condition or in an evacuation. Surveillance also assists in the evaluation and planning of health programs. This exercise digs out the participant's knowledge and accurate response in carrying out aftermath surveillance. Table-top Exercise 5: Health Promotion Important parts of public health in disaster are maintaining and reinforcing the existence of health promotion programs. Table-top Exercise 6: Mental Health Mental health represents a health aspect which suffers from distress caused by disaster. How we respond to public mental health is dug out in this exercise. |
